Three years ago I came across Ruth, Craft School Oz and did my first of several basket making courses with Ruth! Ruth is such a great teacher - practical, creative, encouraging and she has opened my eyes to another world when it comes to materials, techniques and other makers. Best thing ever!! Could not recommend Ruth and her classes more highly.

I really love these online workshops. I live in a small country town so there is no opportunity to attend craft classes. The information is in chapters, very easy to watch and learn from, and I can revisit it as many times as I need to.

I’ve attended an in-person workshop with Ruth from Craft School Oz and also used four of the online workshops that she offers - all have been fantastic. Ruth is a great teacher. I highly recommend Craft School Oz to anyone wanting to learn some new crafting skills.

I have purchased 3 courses. Textile coiled basket and raffia 1&2.

An Introduction into my new corona craft obsession, has been a godsend during the extensive Melbourne lockdown.

Things I love about the tutorials—

Online access-—obviously pandemic perfect. Tutorials are clear and succinct and it’s great they are broken down into smaller segments so you can easily repeat watch the tricky bits. Access is straightforward and prompt. Good lighting and closeups! And love seeing all the beautiful work.

Ruth has always been a crafter - and one that loves to pass on her love for creating. She trained as a clothing designer in the UK, working with textiles and fashion warehouses. When she came to Australia she graduated from Box Hill TAFE with a Diploma of Visual Arts and then completed a Bachelor of Adult Learning and Development at Monash University.

Ruth has taught art and crafts at a tertiary level and also through community education programs, some in very remote areas. She strongly believes in the need to facilitate opportunities for creative workshops in rural and regional communities. She knows first hand that people in these areas often don't often get the chance to participate in events like these, and being able to explore creativity in a supportive, safe space is an essential part of life.

Her interest in teaching, craft, and supporting regional areas became the perfect foundation for what is now this wonderful crafty community. And now bringing online workshops means everyone can access what she teaches.
